Platform Accreditation Scheme

  • SNU AWARDS

The Platform Accreditation Scheme (PAS) gives training practical experience and assessment to speakers and demonstrators of spirit communication within the SNU.

The Scheme is administered by the SNU's Training & Awards Committee who aim to improve the quality of public speaking and evidential mediumship within the Spiritualist movement. The committee keeps a register of PAS award holders and publicise them in the SNU diary and this website.

PAS changed from the old system to the current one as from the 1st September 2011. Anyone who enrolled prior to this date can carry out their training under the old system or they can swap to the new system and have prior work accepted for accreditation.

The PAS has now become a continuous assessment programme. This means that candidates can elect to train wherever they like as long as they provide evidence that meets the criteria laid down for the course. This evidence is then verified by a member of the District Council Education Committee or a member of the Training and Awards Committee.

Candidates can elect to carry out their training with their DC or with the Training and Awards Committee.

Upon application, students will receive full details about the scheme.

Please note:
The PAS scheme is not for complete beginners, student speakers must have experience of working publicly on the platform and student demonstrators must be proficient in providing evidential mediumship and not relying solely on psychic links.

Log Book:

Students will be given a Record of Achievement which includes a logbook, to be signed by tutors at training sessions, others verifiers such as Ministers and Officiants of the SNU, church committee officers etc.

Assessment:

Students are assessed through out the course on the evidence they produce. When they have met all the criteria they should return all work to the Training & Awards Committee who will arrange a final National Assessment. Students must then attend a National Assessment Board, usually in their own district. Here a final assessment is made as to whether the student can demonstrate good ability in speaking or evidential mediumship; successful students will be granted the PAS award.
